Welcome to Alaska! Your tour begins in Anchorage, which serves as the entryway to some of Alaska’s best parks and bicycle routes. Today at 12 p.m., you will have a welcoming meeting with your tour leader to meet your other travelers. After, take a warm-up bike along the paved Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, which runs from downtown Anchorage through coastal marshes and into wooded hills, with spectacular vistas of Mount Susitna along the way. After that, you may refresh yourself and walk out to the lively downtown, where you might like to eat supper at one of the restaurants.
After an early breakfast, relax and enjoy the trip along the Parks Highway to Denali National Park, which covers 6 million acres of Alaska’s wildness. Look out for caribou, birds, wolves, and other animals along the journey. Stop at Talkeetna to stretch your legs before sitting down for lunch with your group. When you get in the park, which is home to North America’s highest peak, you’ll travel to the visitor center for a safety brief before heading out into the wilderness for your first trek. The paths here will change according to the weather and your group’s preferences.
Today’s trip begins by snaking through the spruce forest on the beautiful Triple Lakes path, Denali National Park’s longest path with stunning views of Riley Creek. With the towering mountains in the distance, you’ll stroll through creeks, forests, and undulating hills before arriving at the first of the three Triple Lakes. From here, you can either continue (if time allows) or return to the trailhead and spend the evening relaxing at the hotel. For those who want to see more of the park, you may skip today’s trek and pay for the full-day Tundra Wilderness Bus Tour, which includes the Toklat River’s breathtaking landscape and some of the region’s greatest animal viewing possibilities.
Today, get an early start and enjoy a lengthy but lovely trip back through Anchorage and along the Parks Highway to Seward, one of Alaska’s oldest and most beautiful communities. Turnagain Arm will be your stop along the route. This canal into the northern section of the Gulf of Alaska was named after British explorer James Cook, who was compelled to ‘turn again’ after the waterway failed to contain the legendary Northwest Passage during his 1778 journey. Continue on to Seward after exploring this gorgeous region. This vibrant town, which serves as the entryway to Kenai Fjords National Park, features galleries, boutique stores, and a bustling harbor.
On this full-day sea kayaking and rainforest trekking experience, you’ll get a change of scenery as you head out onto Resurrection Bay. Traveling to the beach allows you to learn about life in Seward. After a quick briefing, hop in the kayak and paddle around the bay’s tranquil waters, taking in the mountain views while keeping a lookout for sea otters, seals, porpoises, bald eagles, and jumping salmon. From mid-July to early September, you will kayak directly past Tonsina Creek’s mouth to see a salmon-spawning stream! Then, explore Tonsina Point, which has a ghost forest, a big waterfall, and a beautiful green landscape. Stop for a picnic lunch with your party in the forest, then go for a walk on the beach—today is full of photo opportunities!
Before leaving Seward today, there will be time for a traditional Alaskan walk to Exit Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. You’ll go so close to the deep blue ice that you can hear the glacier! It’s soon time to head back to Anchorage, where your voyage comes to a conclusion. If you want to extend your stay, please contact your booking agent ahead of time.
